WordPress to Drupal website migration
ASU-mandated change in our website content management system
What is the WordPress to Drupal transition?
The Fulton Schools of Engineering is being required to transition all of our websites from WordPress to the university‑supported Drupal platform, and Enterprise Technology’s website product, Webspark.
This change is a mandate from Arizona State University to consolidate all ASU websites within a unified, centrally managed environment to ensure legal compliance, enhance security and enable timely enterprise‑level response when required.
What’s next
As the migrations progress, we will contact site owners via email with information about their website migration timeline and information about training and office support hours.
We recognize that change of this scale can feel disruptive, especially for those who maintain active faculty or lab sites. Our team is committed to communicating often and supporting you throughout the process.
If you have immediate questions, feel free to reach out to the Fulton Schools Web Services Manager, Jenn Jurewicz at [email protected].

We are finalizing the timeline now. Based on the university’s schedule, the first faculty and lab sites are expected to begin migrating in the next few weeks. A detailed timeline will be shared as soon as it is confirmed.
Most URLs will remain the same, but we will confirm this for each site during the review process.
No immediate action is required. Your site will continue to function as usual until your assigned migration window.
About the migration process
Each site will undergo a brief content‑freeze period to ensure all content transfers correctly. During this time, updates to your WordPress site should be paused.
No. Your WordPress site will remain accessible for a short period after the migration in case any content needs to be retrieved.
Only during the brief content‑freeze period will editing be paused. We will notify you in advance.
Feature requests will be collected, but major changes may need to wait until after the migration to ensure stability.
Your site will move into the Webspark environment, which uses Drupal templates and components. While the structure and design may differ from your current WordPress layout, the core content will be preserved.
The Web Services team will review your site before and after migration. If anything is missing or incorrect, we will work with you to resolve it.
The technical migration is typically quick, but preparation, review, and post‑migration adjustments may take several days depending on site complexity. 8-10 weeks was estimated by Enterprise Technology.
Drupal and Webspark use different tools and components. We will evaluate any custom features and discuss alternatives or replacements as needed.
We will review analytics configurations and ensure appropriate tracking is set up in the new environment.
All content will be reviewed prior to migration. If your site contains complex or specialized materials, we may reach out for clarification or preparation.
Training and support
Yes. After your site moves, the Fulton Schools Web Services team will provide training resources to help you learn the basics of Drupal and Webspark.
Yes. We will offer support sessions and office hours to answer questions and help you get comfortable with the new system.
You may reach out to the Fulton Schools Web Services Manager, Jenn Jurewicz, at [email protected] or the team at [email protected].
Due to the volume of sites we’re migrating, our team isn’t able to make routine updates or create new pages for site owners during this transition. However, you’re encouraged to submit a support ticket so we can meet with you directly, and you’re always welcome at our office hours for real‑time help as you get familiar with Drupal and Webspark.
A student worker is more than welcome to participate in training or attend support hours. At the same time, we encourage site owners to explore Drupal directly so you can build comfort with the new system and feel prepared to manage your site going forward.
